Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University n.a. R.E. Alekseev (NNSTU) is one of the oldest and biggest universities of the Russian Federation. Nowadays students from different parts of Russia and from all over the world choose NNSTU because they are sure in the quality, relevance and solemnity of the knowledge they are given here. NNSTU strategy is to create new educational formats, coupling of NNSTU’s education quality criteria with employer quality requirements. The main activity of NNSTU is preparation of well qualified specialists for science and industry.
NNSTU was founded on the basis of the Warsaw Polytechnic Institute after Emperor Nicholas II on 1898, and in 1917 NNSTU was moved to Nizhny Novgorod. For all the time of its existence the NNSTU has trained more than 240 thousand of engineers, scientific workers, teachers. The share of NNSTU accounts for more than 70% of University students in the region for priority sectors of the economy.

NNSTU has a modern student campus, which includes 6 dormitories for more than 2000 seats, modern infrastructure for food, medical and consumer services.
In recent years, NSTU has repeatedly become the winner of competitions for the best student dormitories.
To date, NNSTU provides places to stay on campus all Russian from-outside students, foreign students and postgraduate students .
NNSTU implements a social program to provide service housing for promising young scientists and teachers, which is part of the policy of the University to rejuvenate the staff.

Students of NSTU have well-equipped sport complexes, 2 country recreation centers with modern facilities for mass cultural events at their disposal.

Students of NNSTU repeatedly have won sport competitions held by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russian Federation.
Nizhny Novgorod was founded in 1221 by Prince Yury Vsevolodovich. Soon Nizhny became an important outpost in the struggle against the Kami Bulgarians. To defend the place the Kremlin was erected at the beginning ot the 16th century. Now it is one of the oldest cities in Russia and the 5-th largest in population (about 1.3 million people). It is situated 400 kilometers east of Moscow at the junction of the rivers Volga and Oka.
During Soviet times Nizhny was renamed Gorky for one of the Soviet famous writers Maxim Gorky, who was born here. The world-known physicist Andrei Sakharov was in exile here in the 80-ies. Then it was the centre of the munitions industry. The city was reopened for foreign visitors in 1991.
Now once again named Nizhny Novgorod, the city has become the capital of Privolzhsky region and a centre of democratic market reforms. The former military production is converted to peaceful needs. Vehicle manufacturing is the biggest industry of the city, then come shipbuilding and machine-building plants and many others.
Nizhny is one of the biggest cultural centers of Russia. There are dozens of theatres, concert halls including The Opera and Ballet House, the Drama Theatre, the Puppet Theatre and the Theatre for the Young Audience, the Comedy Theatre, the Art galleries of Nizhny.
The city is rich in historic sights: the Kremlin, the old Pokrovka Street, various monuments to the famous citizens. But the most beautiful is a view other The Volga river from the Upper Volga Embankment. It is the loveliest view one has ever seen! And here is Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after Rostislav Alekseev.
Nizhny is the city of students – there are about 15 academies and institutes along with universities and a number of colleges. Schoolchildren study at 170 secondary schools here. No wonder, tourists are eager to see sights of this ancient city. Recognizing its particular uniqueness, UNESCO designated Nizhny as one of the most significant cities, culturally and historically, in the world.
